Why I Became a Transformation Coach

Updated: Jun 25

I remember a time, not so long ago, when I was in a pretty bad place physically, spiritually and emotionally. I had experienced significant setbacks following a motor vehicle accident that left me in chronic pain for 5 years. I went through countless medical procedures, operations, tests, treatments and was taking so much prescription medication that my cognitive function was no longer what it had been and I even began to stutter! I would often get mid-sentence and forget what I was saying. The pain was so bad that I struggled to sleep, and on my worst days I couldn’t brush my hair or clean my teeth as moving my arm was too painful. I became depressed as a result of living my life with chronic pain. I comfort ate and drank more than I should. Then I became depressed about being depressed! Life was hard and my pain was consuming me!

In 2015 I had surgery to implant a pain management device, a Spinal Cord Stimulator now runs along my spine, with a battery implanted in my right hip which I charge via a bluetooth - I suddenly had a new-found respect and appreciation for science!

Following surgery, I experienced fatigue and depression greater than anything I had known and could barely get myself off the couch most days. Life was hard and I was struggling beyond words. As a single mum I was barely able to look after myself let alone my 3 children.

It’s OK To Ask For Help

I reached out to a friend who helped me get started on my wellness journey, incorporating a personalised nutrition plan and whole food healthy eating. Within 3 days I noticed an energy shift that got me moving and I started to feel alive again. I decided that this was my last red hot go at life and I needed to give it all I’ve got.

It turns out giving it all you’ve got is sometimes harder than you realise, lucky for me I had an amazing coach to support and guide me through. I slipped up, I made some poor choices, I didn’t always stick to my plan at first - but I was consistent, and I kept going. I remember how bad I used to feel, and how good I now felt, and I never wanted to go back. I never saw myself as fat - I thought I could afford to lose 5kg, but I actually went on to lose over 19kg and 100cm! I have maintained (and improved on) this for the last 7 years.

A few months into my journey I attended a healthy lifestyle event and found everyone so positive and supportive. The guest speaker said that if you have had an amazing result and don’t share that with others that is selfish, which put the wheels in motion to me becoming a coach, I mean, none of us want to be selfish right?!

Personal Growth and Development

I tapped into all the trainings with our nutrition partner, learning all I could about nutrition, supplementation, healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle and used myself as my first client.

Then I discovered Personal Development, and this was a game changer! At first, I thought it was weird to be listening to “self-help” videos and podcasts, but over time it became part of my routine, and I am now so thankful that I stuck at it! I read a lot of books and if I am not reading then I am listening to them on Audible daily. It was a culmination of my personal growth through these books that led me to the decision that I needed to stop playing small and take my coaching business full time. Up until that point I had been coaching part time around a very busy and demanding full time HR Management career.

You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

I sacrificed myself a lot as a young woman, thinking that I had to put everyone else before myself - particularly as a Mum! As I’ve been on my own journey and worked on my mindset, I’ve noticed that I am a happier person, I am more patient and balanced, I have more energy and I am a far more positive person! I’m now the person I always wanted to be and because my cup is full I have so much more to give to others.

I now find so much joy and fulfilment in helping others on their journey. I know what it is like to struggle, I know how it feels to be unhappy with yourself and I know first-hand that we are supposed to feel better than average every day! Dynamic health and wellness is totally achievable and I love helping people to experience that for themselves. Most people don’t know how good their body is supposed to feel!

My journey started out for energy, but it became so much more than that. It became a journey of Self Love. Jim Rohn said, “The Best Project You Will Ever Work on is Yourself” and he was so spot on.

I’m now fulfilling my purpose to help others become the best version of themselves through self-love, self-care and helping them to live a life of complete abundance, and I am loving every minute of it.
